Problem with my sound

For the past while I've been using a program called Audacity, which enables me to plug in a stereo amp, turntable or a cassette deck and record old LP's or tapes and then transfer to a disc. The problem now is that I get a really faint and scratchy sound when I play the turntable or cassette deck through my computer. I'm guessing that it might be a worn or faulty sound card. I get sound from my computer when I'm online. Whassup? Thanks.

It might be worth re-checking your sound card drivers for corruption and/or updates.

Try uninstalling the driver and reinstalling it. The trick is to install the driver only - not any "control center" or similar junk software that may be included with the OEM version of the driver.

You may have to search around for a raw driver without the junkware, but - if you do - it may solve the problem. Worked for me a few months ago when a client's PC had the same issue with Audacity.

    Hope this helps. :)

    Hi,

The input to the Sound Card is 600 ohms also called LINE IN. Make sure your amp output is 600 ohms/Line out.

    Good Luck, Jim
