Problem with Nero 6 General Clean Tool

I having problems uninstalling Nero 6. I've used the Nero 6 general clean tool.
before trying to install a trial version of nero 8.

I rebooted after running the n6gct

I tried to upgrade to nero 8 trial and It stated Nero 6 was previously installed and needs to be removed.

I've run the N6gct again, and again.

I receive this message : microsoft visual c ++ runtime library

runtime error!

program:C:\DOCUME~1\B.C.~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\RarSFX0\cleantool.exe

This application has requested runtime to terminate in an unusual way.
please contact the application's support team for more information.

Has anyone a solution.

You can try the Nero "driver clean tool" which will deactivate any corrupted drivers that could be causing an uninstall problem and then rerun your clean tool: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Uninstallers/Nero-Clean-Tool-Bundle.shtml

And, since you've at least tried to install Nero 8, I'd run that clean tool as well: http://www.nero.com/eng/support-nero8-tools-utilities.html

However, you failure message may be indicating you are missing a runtime library required to run the clean tool also.

I tried your suggestions, and I still get the Nero 6 was previously installed and needs to be removed message; when i run the Nero 8 trial.

I thought the http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/U...l-Bundle.shtml was the answer. It located some of the nero 6 files that were still hanging on, but I guess there's more hidden. I ran the nero 6 & 8 general clean tools again with no great results. Once again thanks for your help.

plodr, Thanks for your response. I followed your advice, but I had no success with it. everything but Nero 6 showed up. I've just about giving up on this matter. I've even deleted the Nero 6 general clean up tool , reinstalled it and now get a invalid path message. I deleted the Nero 8 trial install, downloaded it again and still get the Nero 6 was previously installed and needs to be removed message. I even did a malware inspection and everything was clean (which is great news:celebrate).

I went ahead and reinstalled N6, had a :tired wth moment, said it is what it is, and left it alone. N6 will be here for awhile.
