I have the new rig all assembled with the exception
of the video card (still waiting for the Gigabite RX560).

    Case - https://www.in-win.com/en/gaming-chassis/301
    CPU - https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113410
    Mama/Board - https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA6BM56U1172
    PSU - https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151095&ignorebbr=1
    Memory - DDR3

In the test run, I disconnected the the HHD and turned on the power. The CPU cooler fan
cycled fine, however, three other LED fans would very briefly stop (1/10 of a second) and
resume only to repeat the same cycle. This went for other a one minute period.

Not sure if this matters but the fans are 3 pins and the board system fans are 4 pin headers.

Also, the fan of the PSU, is also not spinning.

In addition, I checked the back of the mama/board and only the spacers provided
    by In Win were installed.

I hope someone can be of helf, as I am a stump two legged computer builder.

So, do you see a BIOS splash screen, or can you access it [BIOS] by pressing Delete (or whatever key is specified in the manual) during boot?

I do not have a display hooked up. I was running the
rig to see if the fans and the PSU would power up.

Update - All three fans with LED lights were blinking yesterday
and today. Furthermore, the PSU shut itself down twice today!!

Also placed one of the LED fans into my other rig and it operated normally.

The fan of the PSU is at least now spinning.

I believe the PSU is bad. I will never purchase another Seasonic
PSU!!! They have no telephone or email support for consumer
    (retail) purchases!!!

Moreover, even on defective products, Seatonic requires postage
    is paid by their customers!!

Which model did you buy and how were the reviews?

You should file for an RMA with NewEgg if you got it there. Where did you procure it?

The Mekanic, tanks for the reply.

I purchased the PSU at Old Egg. I am not 100% sure the
PSU is the culprit but with the LED fan lights blinking and
the PSU self shutting down more than likely.

OR, it may not be enough to power your rig.

Do you have a graphics card? The Athlon does not have graphics integrated on it's die.

The PSU has 650 watts and the unit will not
    be used for gaming, Mekanic.

Yes, I discovered that it required a GPU. I think I
either shorted out the Mama/board or got bad part(s).

I do not have a display hooked up nor a GPU; which
I am expecting in about a week.

Pick up my rig from Mirco Center tech department.

They indicated a no post and suggested that either the
CPU or Mama/board or both are defective.

Why was my last post censored ??

  12. blueice

As expected the PSU test ran normal.
    +12v - 12.1v
    + 5v - 4.9v
    PG - 280ms

    All values are within specs.

Time to buy a new Mama/board or RMA
    the Big-0-bite board.

  13. blueice

    blueice Private First Class

I thought it would be wise to do another
    test before RMA the Mama/board.

Removed the CPU and added one of the LED
    fans and powered it up.

The fan ran without a single incident of it blinking
    on and off !!!

Now I am wondering if the CPU is the problem??

  14. blueice

    blueice Private First Class

    Ordered another CPU.

  15. blueice

    blueice Private First Class

New CPU did not solve the problem.

Returned Mama/board to Big-o-bite for repair or replacement.

  16. blueice

    blueice Private First Class

Big-o-bite, did three different configuration tests with the
    Mama/board and found no issues!!

Now, please do not tell me dat all three LED fans
(blinking on and off) are bad??

    Good gravy!!!

Beard board this new built today again. Will install the CPU, memory, graphic card,
a LED fan and try to see if it boots with no issues.

Installed the new replacement M/B (which Robert tells me
was stress tested) and same old issues with fans turning
on and off. I also noticed, that even the CPU fan is effected.
I discovered this with the flashlight on low beam, which
clearly shows the fan cycle speeding up and slowing down.
So all six fans in the case are not running normally.

As Usandthem suggested, it is time to take it to a repair
shop (not the worthless Microcenter). All of the components
have no known conflict and the there is no need to update
the bios. One last check with the Geek Squad and get their
    opinion(s).

I have never been so frustrated in all of my life.

Is it possible that your fans only turn on when needed?

  21. blueice

    blueice Private First Class

TimW, good guess, however, the on and off cycle does
vary. Yesterday, I had it at GeekSquad, with the on
and off cycle was very reradiate.

I call one repair shop and they wanted $190.oo to fix
    the problem!

I am thinking of getting rid of the APU processor and
going with a AM4 socket (now using a FM2+) and another
M/B. The cost would be about the same.

However, I will never know what the problem is. I still think
it is a bad M/B, despite what Robert at Big-a-bite says.

Is it overheating? If not, what issues are you having? Are you posting here with that rig?

  23. blueice

    blueice Private First Class

Thank you for your reply, Tim. No, the new built is non-functioning.

The main issues have been no post and all the fans blinking on
    and off.

Yesterday, I tried ram from my working rig and all the fans
(six) ran correctly for about 30 seconds. Then the LED case
fans (3) started to rapidly blink. I did, however, get a single
post beep which I have not been able to do before.

With the other memory, at start, I would either get no beep
or one continuous one, all of the fans in the new built, would
    cycle on and off.

Now, after the last test, perhaps the cheap heatsink, which
can with the AMD APU, is not matching the surface of the
CPU correctly and creating a heating issue. However, I
believe this to be a long shot.

The long beep suggests the ram is giving problems.
I always started my pc builds with
    psu,
cpu, heatsink, and fan, (for cpu only)- and
one stick ram, and, if no on-board graphics, a graphics card.
I then went no further if I never had a beep, or got into thee bios. I would recheck all installed, before going further.

Tim, that is encouraging news. It was also the case
on my working rig, also heavy with Bit-o-bite hardware.

I am wondering if the previous memory is either defective
or not dual channel. I could not find it on Crucial website
perhaps, because it is at least ten years old. I will have to
    do a duckduckgo search.

Still, I do not understand why the case LED fans (three)
    were flickering?

  27. blueice

    blueice Private First Class

    Baklogic, most excellent post.

Yes, you are correct about the long beep. I checked Sir Tim's link
and it indicated this "Memory Error Continuous long beep."

This is then either a case of bad ram or incompatibility. (just like my wife)

Question, if I can get into the BIOS, what would I be seeking?

I will follow your startup instructions but I am wondering why
the LED fans (three case fans) were blinking. They did not stop
    and start as before.

    Tanks your helf !

Yes, Tim, as I have a pair of extra sticks and also using
    another in my working rig.

Maybe I should swap the newer ram from my rig
and put the old one back. But then I am going from
16 rams to 8, which is not good.

Perhaps it will be better to buy a set.

Tim, I will test the old ram in my working rig.

Also, order ram for the new build. Now, I must
    work on Christmas cards!

Obviously the heatsink and fan for the processor has to be installed before starting, but , as little paste as possible is best under the heatsink.
I have occasionally found that some ram just is not compatible, not necessarily faulty.
When first getting into bios, you just need to check that the ram is showing, and date and time are O.K.
You can then shutdown, and put a hard drive in, and check that is showing O.K
If all O.K, you could add another stick of ram, but one stick is usually sufficient to get things going.
I would then install your operating system.
Then, I would try one of your extra fans only, and check that it has the correct number of pins to the fan and motherboard.

If a problem with the fan, then check in event viewer to see if anything shows as a problem- if not, connect everything else, one at time.

Baklogic, tanks for the advice, which I have screen captured.

I will follow your instruction. I order new ram (man it is not cheap anymore)
and a new cable for the LCD TO VIDEO card. I am changing out the old
VGA connectors and going with DVI-D from the LCD to the VIDEO card.

I will be off the forum for about a week.

Merry Christmas to one and all !!

Have a good break, blueice, things sometimes go better after a break, and a re-think.

  38. blueice

    blueice Private First Class

Well, after a six month break I am giving this another try.

I installed the new RAM (Gskill) and placed one stick onto
the mamabroad. Started the rig and well you know the theme
by now, all three LED case fans started to blink on and off, however,
different this time, was that the case fans and the CPU fan were
    NOT CYCLING on and off!

Since the case fans were all hooked up in a series, I decided to remove
the rear outlet fan and see what would happen. Started up the rig, which
by the way was indeed posting, but the two front LED case fans blinked
on and off. Oh Boy, same junk, different day.

I had installed APEVIA AF312L-SBL 120mm Blue LED Ultra Silent Case Fan w/15 LED
    & Anti-Vibration Rubber Pads (3 pack) - for $20.oo bucks.

At this point, I pandered at the rig and wondered if my next option was to breakdown
and start bread boarding again. This time I had the monitor hooked up and she
posted, so the only issue were the bloody blinking LED case fans.

I was quite sure, that six months ago, I did start with only two and a single fan and
    each time they blinked.

What to do, I ax myself. I only had one option at my disposal, which was to hook up the rear fan
onto the mama board next to where the CPU fan header was. Fired up the rig and sure enough
all three case fans lit up and simultaneously turned off and then can back on. I watched the case
15 seconds, 30 seconds, 45 seconds and now one minute and all three LED fans were functioning
normally! One minute turned into five minutes and no malfunctions whatever!!!!! Bloody success!

I am not sure what I did, but it appears that these fans can not be connected together in a
series other than two, unless one is mounted to a fan header on the mama board. I do not
think that swapping out the old RAM (2011) with newer RAM was material. I could still
install the older RAM and see if the results are the same. It could be that the APEVIA fans
were poorly engineer or faulty or simply wherein case fans can not be connected together in a series.

In any case, the fans no longer blink on and off and neither do they cycle on and off as well.

Now the only issue that I have is a rapid rising CPU temperature (without any load), starting
at around 35 Celsius and climbing to 68 Celsius within five to six minutes. I had only placed
a pea size of Arctic thermal paste onto the core, so I will have to remove the cooler and likely
the CPU. The AMD processor will shut down at 72.4 Celsius, according to the manufacture.

Many thanks for the replies and advise.

  39. blueice

    blueice Private First Class

I installed another CPU and spread the thermal paste over the entire area of the CPU.

It is now running for around a 1/2 hour under no load, with the temperature sitting
at 55 Celsius. This is still much too high in my opinion, so I will have to buy an
    after market cooler.

The other CPU is stuck on the cooler, so I will have to figure how to get it off
    without breaking or damaging it.

  40. blueice

    blueice Private First Class

It is now running at 49 Celsius. I forgot, that the thermal paste
matures but I still ordered an Arctic Cat heat sink, as the temp
without a load is still to high.
