Problem with Realtek HD Drivers

My problem with these drivers is somewhat different:

Anytime I launch an audio application (Skype, Video/audio apps etc), my XP box reboots. I have no problem with sound output as I hear my DVDs and MP3s without an issue. It's whenever I try to input audio from a mic is when the crash occurs. I know it's the damn Realtek HD driver because when I disable, no problem....other than no sound!

    XP SP3
Intel Board with embeded Realtek Audio.

Please tell me the workaround on this. My current project is developing a suite of VideoConferencing Apps, and without being able to input audio ...I'm dying.

    Thanks,

    JSly

    Hi

Which Intel Desktop Motherboard do you have?
Have you checked for updated drivers from motherboard maker? at times an update if available can correct some known issues.

In Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer are their any error messages listed around the time of the crash/reboot?

    dlb and Halo:

Sorry, I'm using a IntelĀ® Desktop Board D915GAV, and yes I've updated the Bios, the Chipset Utility and updated (and also rolled back) HD Audio driver from Realtek. I also have SP3 for XP on the machine.

    Thanks,

    Jsly

    Hi

Go into Device Manager and uninstall your Audio driver then install this one (number 3 in the list) from Intel here as if you did get the driver from Realtek then its possible as they are general drivers, that Intel have asked for custom ones and its those that need installing.

    Hi Halo:

Thanks...but already rolled it back to the driver off the Intel site

5.10.0.5377 is the Intel version on the site and is what is installed on my box.

Still no cigar! Did the error messages make any sense?

    BEst regards,

Unresolved, throwing in the towel! - Re: Problem with Realtek HD Drivers

    Ok:

One last piece of information....when I go to test my audio set up
I get a message saying the my device (Realtek HD) can not capture
voice and play sounds simultaneously....wow, what good is HD if I can't
    do that?

Since no one is able to solve my issue here, I've deviced to go out and buy
a separate duplex sound card and disable Realtek on my MB. I will never build another computer with sound built-in on the MB...waste of money and time.

Sorry this one was not resolved, but thanks anyway Halo and dlb.

    Happy Holidays,

    Jsly
