Yo yo yo. I'm new to the boards here. Nice to meet you all. Anyways, heres my question. I had Sim City 3000 Unlimited installed on my laptop with Win98SE. It worked great. Then I got rid of 98 and installed XP. Then I installed SimCity3000 Unlimited. Now, whenever I play, the screen and mouse flicker.

    Here are my comps. specs:
    I'ts a compaq 1200 from 2001
    Win XP
    182mb ram
    Tridend Cyberblade video card
If you need more info, ask.

Also, on my new computer with win98, my WAV volume turns itself up after about 30mins. I open the sound properties and turn it back down, but it goes right up again after a short while. How do i fix it?

#2: install newer chipset drivers and the latest drivers for your audio card.

#1: SC3000 isn't officially supported under WindowsXP, however updating the videocard's drivers might prove helpfull

I have XP Home edition and play SC 3000 just fine, but if you're having problems, you may want to try the compatibility options that XP offers. You can go to the executable file on your hard drive, right click it, go down to properties and then go to the compatibility tab. Click the check box labeled Run this program in compatibility mode for: then select an operating system from the drop down box. Use '98 to start with, if you want. See if that helps game play.

But on a different note, sounds like to me you don't have sufficient memory with your video card. What kind of video card do you have and, if you know, how much memory does it offer?

    edit

Ok ... so I'm blind or dumb, or both... you listed your video card brand. But again... how much memory does it provide?

I'm surprised you got XP to install at all!

It's your video card memory. I can say this 100% sure. SC 3000 has so many things to keep up with in a simulation game that 8 MB video card could never cut it. Sorry man... the solution will cost you $$$. Upgrade that video card.

    edit
By the way... just some advice. Check the minimum and recommended system requirements on the games you install.

well...there are some issues running sc3000 in any NT based OS! Some people have time issues, as in the real time takes forever even in the fastest mode...so either dont play this in win XP or get Sim City 4!

Get SC4, it's like a different game. Much more challenging, much more things to do. Better graphics, sound...just all around better.
