Hello to every1, im kinda new here, and yet with problem.
Problem lies in sound, actually in sound drivers.
My motherboard is : Gigabyte GA-K8NF-9, system windows xp proffesional sp1.
Been tryin installing drivers from motherboard cd, from realtek webpage, and still nothing. whole time driver is considered as broken, or badly installed (code 30)
    any advices here?
Living without a music is such a pain ^^

:wave Welcome to Major Geeks! :major

First, go to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and uninstall any sound drivers currently installed. Restart the PC. Then download and install the chipset driver and reboot when it's done. Then download and install the audio driver and again restart the PC when it's done.
That should do it! Let us know how it goes....
    :-D

well, I did like this before, and i tried out that once again, same result. Still no sound, still error (code 39) that driver is absent or damaged.
any other ideas about what that can be? :confused

First, check the BIOS and make sure the on board audio is enabled. Then right click My Computer > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager, and look at what is listed under "Sound, Video, and Game Controllers" and post it here. Also, use the following steps to attach an Everest hardware report:

    1. Bios sound is set on auto, other option is 'disabled' , well so I think it was set right.
    2. report is a zip file ( wow the txt file was 14kB too big. :D)
3.Under "Sound, Video, and Game Controllers" (i shall try to translate it. cause it's all in polish)

    - Audio Coders-Encoders
    - Video Coders-Encoders
    - Realtek AC'97 Auto (yellow sign, marked as valid. error 39)
    - Older audio drivers
    - Older video drivers (other name, cannot translate it correctly, yet meaning is the same.)
    - (about managing media's)

Edit: sorry dlb about lastest post, now i'm gonna stick to rules. Thank you. :)

All I can suggest is to uninstall ALL the current audio drivers... then install KB888111 which is a Microsoft Audio Update. Then re-install the sound driver I linked you to before, then reboot the PC. If this doesn't work, be patient, hopefully someone (like Musksnipe ;) ) will come along and assist.
    Good luck!

Click this link for a different audio driver, maybe the driver I linked to above is no good.... it is also possible that your services were messed up by the malware. I've seen it before. Click Start > Run and type msconfig and press Enter. Click the Services tab and make sure all the services listed are enabled, you may need to reboot after enabling any that have been turned off.
