In an attempt to clean out spyware I have tried to use My Computer/properties/system restore to disable the SR. However when I click on the System Restore Tab I get an error message.

I have looked in Computer Management at the System restore service. It does not appear to be running. When I click start I get an error 15: Cannot find the drive specified. The file specifed is

    C:\WINNT\System32\svchost.exe -k netsvcs

I have checked my directory and the svchost file is located where it is suppose to be.

Anyone have any ideas? The Spyware is killing me and it keeps coming back, I suspect from the recovery directory.

I'm running XP, svc pack 2

OK, I just noticed in looking at the running processes there are actually 6 svchost.exe files running.

SR will do nothing for getting rid of your spyware. Since SR is not running on your machine right now, that's good, you're ready to start the spyware removal process by following the steps in the sticky and if your infestation continues, then post in the Spyware Specific forum. After your machine is clean of spyware, then post again here, if the SR function still can't be enabled. :)
