    Hey guys,

I have an MSI PCI-Express X800XL 256MB version. If you look, say, on Newegg.com, you'll notice that all the X800XL's run at 400MHz core and 900MHz memory. Well, looking at my card from ATI Catalyst, look at what I got:

Now, my card runs HL2 and CS:S at all settings turned up, even with 6x AA. By the way, what is Anti-Aliasing? Apparently it is stressful on some video cards, but visually, what is it?

Do you guys think my video card is running underclocked or am I just stupid? Is there anywhere else I can check to verify?

And one last thing, want to make sure that it's normal that Catalyst just shows it as "X800 Series" instead of the exact model (X800XL).

2 things your memory might be running at 900MHz... there was something i read that programs show half of what you are running unless you specify to show all of what your running. OR You better clock that sucker up to 900MHz!

depending on your cpu you should recieve a score in 3dmark 2003 of around 11000 when you set your video card options to high performance, your memory is ddr so you have to double the speed you see 493mhz x 2 =986mhz,186mhz faster than what you say your xl should be running, some manufacturers just run them faster out the box :)

AA is is a way of smoothing out jagged lines in 3d images,it is intensive on the video card, but thats what these cards are designed for ;) ,set the video options of the games you like to the highest settings your card can handle, then turn on the AA set to x2 if you still have smooth framerates, set to x4,if you can set it to x8 and still have smooth framerates you must have sweet system ;)
