Problems Downloading

As of yesterday, I seem to be unable to download files.

After it "downloads," and I click run, nothing happens.
If I try to save it, after it "downloads," it gets copied somewhere. And I cannot find where it supposedly went.

only 1 particular game that I have an electronic copy is getting copied somewhere after I try to save it, in all other cases, the downloads are not showing up

Hi

Which Windows version you using?

Have you tried to search for the name of the file you downloaded?

Try downloading another file, say this one CCleaner and click on any of the download links when the Download box comes up with Run Save Cancel, choose Save and make a note of the location its saving too as your other applications are likely in that location too.

I am using windows vista
Its saving to the download folder as normal.
there is nothing in the folder though.

A search brings up nothing as well.

I have also tried doing a system restore to when everything was working, but that has not worked.

where are you downloading?
If using firefox, the default is your desktop.

after some extensive searching, I think the problem may be coming down to avg.

when I try to uninstall it via add/remove programs I get this error:

installer initialization failed due to following error:
Error: @AvgErrorCode_0x0253 %FILE% = "C:\Program Files\AVG\AVG8"
@AvgErrorCode_0x0020

Do you still have a copy of AVG 8? If so, pretend you wish to install it but choose uninstall from the first or second screen.
