    Hey Guys,
I was angry (for reasons I don't want to share, nothing with the computer it was just the closest thing to me) and ripped on my VGA cable about half way along it. It took the tower up and dropped it on it's side. I calmed down and went to set it back up a few hours later and nothing would show on the screen, everything else was fine lights turned on HD spun up. I did some looking and my graphics card was a little loose, re-fitted it, but still nothing. Brought it onto class and we looked at it. Re-seated the graphics card again and it showed on the monitor. Thought "Yay!" Took it home plugged it in. It worked fine did some surfing around the web and left, came back about a half hour later and continued surfing. Then my monitor blinked off along with my mouse and keyboard(the system itself stayed on). Ended up sending it with a friend who took it all apart. It turns out it was one of my 3 RAM sticks, took that stick out and it works fine again.

    My question:
Why did my RAM stick cause this now? It worked perfectly fine with all 3 RAM sticks since I bought it from a good friend before they moved.
    Just curious,

Most likely of the big jolt it got you never want too drop a Laptop or desktop be cause it can cause some issues like that issue.I would recommend that you get some wire ties or Zip ties and try too move them up and out of the way.And your Clips that hold the ram in can be touchy on some mother boards.

Oh and i would do a HD Chkdsk for errors if it made one of your memory sticks pop out i am sure there could be some thing wrong with the HD as well

HD is working fine. I can't really zip-tie anything with where my desktop is situated.

Check the memory? Check each stick individually with memtest. It's either one stick or its all three sticks,I had a similar problem recently although it had nothing to do with an impact, three sticks of memory all identical and matched running in triple channel.

Each stick individually would test working without errors.

When all three were installed the computer wouldn't boot or would boot and crash soon after, when 1+2 were installed the computer would boot fine without errors, when 1 and 3 or 2 and 3 were installed the computer would boot but with lots of errors in memtest, turns out stick 3 was weak and needed more memory and QPI voltage to stabilise it.

My best guess is the troubleshooting has reset the bios one one or more of the settings has cause the memory to become unstable,I would still guess its a video card related problem.

You could try wiggling the vga cable and card while the computer is on see if it's loose.

Thanks Rikky, it's working fine now that I removed the 3rd stick of RAM.

I thought you wanted to know why though?

I'll elaborate:-D I think the main problem was with the video card seating or cable connection, this problem could have fixed itself or not,it could have been a connection with another component after the jolt but may need further investigating.

The memory problem is a secondary problem cause by troubleshooting steps or numerous crashes as the video card has become unseated.

The acid test is to test the suspected stick in memtest on its own,if it errors out then you know this was the problem all along.

If your curious,if not doesn't matter:)
