Problems in Vista

Hey guys, I have tried to install and live with vista 3 times. In all of them a specific malware infected me from a file i downloaded. I do not want advice on how to remove this malware( I do not know what it is, it just opens up explorer with ads all the time).The point is defender did not find it, spybot did not find it, microsoft malicious removal or something did not find anything,the free trial of pcillin did not find it either.

Now, on my xp i did not even realize that this file was infected because mcafee
destroyed the menace at once.But mcafee does not work on vista, i tried it and vista could not boot!

I will not install vista until I find some protection.And that is what I am asking.

What is our protection from such files in vista right now.I know that soon,mcafee and all other antivirus software will be released for vista,
but what do we do until then?

 

Other than what is already built in to Vista, you have ZERO protection. You have to keep in mind that Vista is BETA, even though Release Candidate 1 is out. There are currently NO third-party applications available for Vista, though some XP applications may run on Vista. Based on what I have seen of Vista so far; it will be extremely difficult for third-party security vendors to develop applications for Vista.

 

Why is this?
And you are basically saying that we will have more problems with viruses in Vista than in XP?
