Problems shutting down, updating, etc

    Hello,

    Some months ago I had problems with fairly frequent crashes, but a recovery using Paragon to a saved version of the opsys seemed to cure it. But lately I've had some problems installing Microsoft updates, and also shutting down/rebooting problems including rebooting as part of an update. As an example of the problems, the computer often hangs at one stage or another of the operation, for example on the "Shutting Down" message.

    I've tried to follow your procedure exactly, but: (1) the system crashed on trying to select ".txt" after running MBAM (hex codes: a,1,1,address); and (2) I'm not absolutely sure MGTools ran correctly. I managed to find the MBAM log file by opening MBAM again, and I'll try to send everything you specify.

    • Does it run?
    • If not, does it run in safe mode?

    Not seeing any malware at all. Do you have the log from running RogueKiller please?

    Rogue Killer didn't find anything. I thought I saw the log at one point, but when I went to attach it to the post I couldn't find it, and a search of the whole computer failed to find it. Sorry.

    Then I suggest that you post in the software forum about your issues seeing as they do not appear to be malware related. best of luck. :)


    If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. Renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it in step 4 of the READ & RUN ME.
    3. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    4. If running Vista, Win 7 or Win 8, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Now goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    6. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.

    7. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
