Well my computer was working fine until I had to restart my computer to finish installing a program. When I did restart it, the comp stayed on the Windows ME screen and doesn't move from there. I attempted to reinstall Windows ME without erasing my HD but once it reached the 68% mark it got an error and would go no further. But after this I am able to start the computer up once, but then I get a winspool.drv is missing error and have to put it back in my WINDOWS folder. Would anyone know what I could do to stop this from occuring each time I start up my comp? If any more info is needed just tell me what you might need and I'll post it.
    Thanks in advance

    Welcome to MG!
Have you tried booting in safe mode, or booting from your ME cd?
One of your windows files may have been corrupted in the installation causing it not to boot up properly.

The system won't basically startup at all unless I install Windows ME over each time and let it stop due to an error and restart from there. So if I ever nt to turn on my compI have to reinstall ME and follow that porcedure. Anything I can check to see if I have messed up DLL's or something? Thanks

ok, so you've tried reinstalling over and over, therefore there is no operating system present on the system i take it?
have you checked that your cd is corrupt/scratched/damaged? i can't help with the DLL, sorry maybe someone can fill me in there, but if the installation stops half way then it must be a disc problem or something wrong with the hard drive itself..

See if you can get into Safe Mode and use the System Configuration Utility to extract and replace a protected file, in your case probably the winspool.drv.

Look here for instructions on the process in Windows ME.

Ok im able to use the computer now, since I put winspool.drv back into whichever folders it belonged in. But now after being on the computer for a certain amount of time everything begins to move rediculously slow like something is eating up my ram. I'll run a virus scan and get rid of any spyware and then see if the problem still occurs.
    Thanks

windows ME is the worst operating system ever. if you are going to reformat or reinstall go with xp home or pro.
    windows worst; CE-ME-NT= CEMENT

yeh ME is horrible, you should fo for xp or even 2k thats good too.
have you tried defragging? that can speed it up and also do a disc cleanup, i'm guessing its in system tools in accessories, i'm not familiar enough with ME.
also, how much ram do you have?
