Problems when starting up computer

I have an EMachine. I have recently tried to start up my computer. Does the whole welcome screen then when it's on the desktop it freezes. The only thing that will come up is the Netscape software [the stuff before you sign online]. I try to close it and it won't close. I just don't know where to begin to go about how to fix it. Would cleaning it be eaiser??

 

Try this,
Restart pc, press or tap, while booting, the F8 key.
This will get you to Advanced start up options, go to safe mode and try restore to previous date.

There could be many reason's why your Pc freezing up.
In safe mode you can do some investigating/cleanup and such if you can get there.

 

I did what you told me to do.

At the bottom it says for troubleshooting and advanced startup press F8. I did that and nothing happened. Any other ideas?

 

Hmm, anyone recommed that I take it to somewhere to get it cleaned??

 

how old is it? cleaning prob wont doit but maybe
