My laptop is running Windows XP Home. In the Device Manager, Network Adapter Card has a yellow ! on it. After double clicking on the card name, the General tab displays the message "This device cannot find enough resources that it can use. (Code 12). If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system." What should I do? Also, my laptop originally ran Windows XP Pro. I was having problems with it so I tried to do a clean install and had to install XP Home. Could this be part of the problem? Any help will be appreciated.

Is there anything else in the device manager that has the yellow ! ???

A yellow ! means that it is conflicting with something else!! In your case you don't have enough system resourses for this adaptor to operate!! How much memory do you have?? Try cleaning up all the junk running in the background!! Just because it doesn't have an icon in the system tray (the little window down by the clock) doesn't mean that something is not running in the background and in turn this is hogging up your memory!!

To do this...go to Sart>Run...type "msconfig" (without the quotes) and then OK. Now click on the startup tab. Uncheck everything not needed (I keep mine minimized to nothing but my security apps) and you want to keep the things checked that need to be running all the time, like your anti virus and firewall!! Everything else is not needed, unless you like your instant messenger running all the time, etc.

Then click Apply, and it will tell you to restart the computer, and you do so. And when it restarts it won't automatically load all that junk on startup, and therefore freeing up some of your memory!!!!

    Roger,
Thanks for your reply. I've tried what you suggested, and I'm still having the same problem. Is there anything else I can do to free up resources? Thanks!
