I have a major problem, I attempt to stream media, I have various players installed, windows media player 10(I did have media player 11 but rolled back to WMP10) allplayer, k-multimedia player, VLC player, etc etc, allpayer streams video but no audio? media player streams video in stranged bleached out colours and no audio, all very bizarre? I have tried so many codecs, they appear to conflict with each other, god only know which pack I could install to stream all these files without any hindrance, should I uninstall every codec and just install a set which will stream all my files, what an absolute nightmare this is, if anyone could offer me some advice please? Thank you.:cry:cry:cry:cry:cry:cry:cry:cry:cry:cry:cry:cry:cry:cry:cry:cry:cry

okay well apologies for being so concise earlier, I firstly installed all the players bar WMP, completely removed all codecs in 'add and remove programs' then cleaned my registry as you said I ought to do, then went to install the two packs from the links which you kindly provided, the first xp codec pack installed, but then when I went to install the second pack 'codec pack standard' it stopped in it's tracks to advise me that the first pack which was installed confilcied with the second pack as the second pack offered the same codecs as the first, so of course I omitted to install this pack. then I went to the second and last two options which you offered and these were the 'OT Alternative and the Real Aletrnative, downloaded and installed them both and still the problem persists, so you see I am no nearer to solving this bizarre problem, appolgies for irritating you by my speaking in short script.

    Hello Mark,

well I guess I did misunderstand, I jumped in without fully assimilating what you had said, however I now did that which you said, my goodness when it got to the 'One Care On line Live Scanner', 5 hours of scanning later, I have 11 disks in my system so I guess it was only to be expected, 4 of those are 1TB and the rest 500-750gig, no faults were found.
I this morning attempted to test all my media and alas the problem persists, I really am quite beside myself. Do you think that now I ought to uninstall the XP codec pack including media player classic, and QT lite and Real Alternative, and then try another codec pack and so on and so forth? essentially, installing a pack at a time, if it does not work then uninstall, remove and install another?? remembering always to only have one codec pack installed at any one time? Thanks for your input.
