problems with crtl+alt+del (task manager)

hi, this is my first post at majorgeeks so i dont how this forum works... anyway

i have a problem with my PC. i want to enter to the task manager but i cant.
when i enter ctrl+alt+del nothing happens and when i enter "taskmgr" at Start/run an "another program is currently using this file" error message appears.

do anyone know how to solve this? thanks

 

if your on vista then this is simple (i think) just run spybot and it will pick the problem up. hope this helps although this is my first reply and it probably wont!!

 

You can access the task manager (in xp anyway) by right clicking on an empty space on the start bar and selecting task manager.

I've used it before to re-enable the task manager after it's been disabled my a virus or other malware. You may want to visit the malware removal forums and read/follow the stickies. You may have some other nasties that need to be de-nastified.... and Welcome to Major Geeks :major
