    Hello Community,

i created my account a few minutes ago. Forgive me if I write my question in the wrong rubric.

I have a problem and I just can't get anywhere. The internet doesn't help, I hope I can find an answer here.

At work I have a DELL computer with four monitors, all of them are connected via their own display port. I am lazy and I almost never turn off my PC (error I know). Every time there is a Windows update at night (I can't change it - server-controlled) I come to work and my PC is off. I can restart the PC, but the monitors remain black (display port source could not be found). The error message remains with every restart.

Today I found out that I can solve this problem if I unplug the PC for a few minutes in such a case.

Somehow it seems to me as if it is a video RAM problem but it is just a guess. Do you have an idea and please do not recommend that I simply shut down the PC overnight.

Best regards and thank you very much

That's not an error. I never turn off my PCs either. I just let them go to sleep. I could easily go 6 months or longer and never turn off my computers.

If this is a work PC and if you have dedicated IT people, you need to report this to them. You (they) may just need to upgrade the graphics drivers.

Next time this problem occurs, try powering off then back on the monitors. If your power supply has a master power switch on back, you could also flip that for about 10 - 15 seconds instead of unplugging the PC.

Thanks for your answer, I'll check whether I can / have to update the drivers.

The IT people are unfortunately not that helpful, that's why I ended up here :)

Yeah, I understand. I would still advise you to keep your manager in the loop as to the problem and what you are doing trying to resolve it - for your own job security.
