problems with geforce 8600 gts

since ive installed my geforce 8600 gts hardly any of my games will run they keep crashing but i dont know why ive tried the drivers that came with it they work the best ive tried the latest drivers from nvidia there no good im not sure if its a hardware problem or software problem the games that keep crashing are lost planet,xpand rally,and a lot of others the only game that does work is spiderman 3 which i can run on full detail

what are the specs on your PSU? specifically, how many amps on the 12v rail(s)

not sure what your on about on the psu its got

+12v 20a max
+5v 40a max

and yeah thats what i was looking for

the min requirements are a 400W PS w/ 18A on the 12v rails. Depending on the efficiency of your PSU im guessing that its having trouble powering your video card. If you can, id invest in a nice 500-600W PSU

 

what am i looking for in a power supply what does the 12v rail need to be ?

 

i purchased a new power supply i got a ezcool 600 watt dual rail ps but it turned out to be a driver problem in the end

 

hey big blokey i seem to be having the same problem as you ...
I've installed drivers keeps crashing at the start of pretty much all my games...

was wondering what drivers your using, or which ones need fixing...
be greatly appreciated...

well im using the latest drivers but i had to format my pc to get it working properly

 

I've got 162.18 for xp32 ... and all my games crash ....

>.< not sure if it's the memory anyone know how to do a mem test
I just formatted my computer (it's brand new and i've had to do it twice already) ... Installed everything, but the drivers don't seem to be working...

I can use the Nvidia Control Menu ... but that's about it, when game loads up, it dies

 

i had the same problem until i upgraded to vista since then its been ok (touch wood)
