Hi all I am new to this forum, but read it all the time, so this will be my first post. Working on my fathers computer running WinXp home. He contracted the above browser hijacker, http://69.50.179.61/. It is a search page that identifies most borwsed subjects. Many of you have posted about it with other nasties but none is specific. I am able to remove all other Spyware from his machine, but for the life of me cannot get rid of this little bugger. I run all the latest Definitions of Ad-Aware, Spybot, AntiVir XP antivirus, and Javacool's Spywareguard, and Spyware Blaster. Unfortunately those might have done a good job of keeping it off had most of them been installed before the intitial infection. Anyway, the only program that picks it up is Ad-Aware SE. It scans and Identifies 1 file and 11 total registry hits, and successfully removes them. That is until I reboot, and they come back. Have removed it several times from Hijack this but always comes back, which suggests to me something in my system32 file or a renegade .dll somewhere. I would really appreciate any help removing specifically this detection. Will post Hijackthis log upon request.

    Thanks

    Welcome

They will ask you to please do ALL of the following before being asked for a HJT log.
This site has alot of good tools for cleaning up your computer. It's very important that the first thing you do is the following:

First, please follow ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal.
If you already have any of the programs linked in the tutorial please double check your version to make sure you have the latest one and that you have any/all updates for the programs.

NOTE: In order to resolve the issues you are having it is very important that you at least try to perform all the steps as outlined. If you have any difficulty please post back letting us know what steps you have completed, what you found while doing the scans if anything and details about any problems you have encountered in completing the steps. The more details you can provide the better.

Try this... you may find it's all you need. If not post your results and I am sure one of the PROS can help you. These guys are quite busy, as you can see by the number of posts, so hang in there. Good Luck!! :)
