Problems with Internet Explorer

I am a very basic user and today found I could not print out an e-mail. It seems that there was a problem with IE. I do not know how long I have had this since I've been using Firefox for browsing and only occasionally try to print e-mails. IE will not open it just flashes and goes off. I tried opening Internet Options in Control Panel but it too will not open. Tried system restore but it did not help. I then tried to fix it using advice from PC Guru using a file called fixoeprint.cmd, then downloaded IE 7, then ran AD -aware but with no success.
I have now gone through all the stages in READ THIS FIRST and will post the logs - nothing seemed to be found.
I still cannot open IE but instead of quickly flashing it now starts to open and stalls.
I hope someone can help me with this and the solution is simple. I am still suffering from the effects of chemotherapy so my head is a bit 'addled' at times and my concentration lapses.
Thanks for reading this and being willing to help

I have gone in to edit because I cannot find how to make an additional post to attach the other log from th MG tools - not sure if I can even find it? Sorry.

I have now found the other file and hope its OK to do this as a reply. The fixoeprint.cmd contained the following -
    regsvr32 urlmon.dll
    regsvr32 shdocvw.dll
    regsvr32 msjava.dll
    regsvr32 actxprxy.dll
    regsvr32 oleaut32.dll
    regsvr32 mshtml.dll
    regsvr32 browseui.dll
    regsvr32 shell32.dll
    regsvr32 iepeers.dll
    regsvr32 ole32.dll

When I ran it there were problems - I don't understand them. I tried again after doing all the Malware clean up bit and still had two unsuccessful bits where after regsvr32 msjava.dll it said - Load library (msjava.dll) failed -the specified module could not be found and after regsvr32 mshtml.dll it said mshtml.dll was loaded but the DLL register server entry point was not found. This file could not be registered.

I don't think this is a malware issue, however I want you to use windows explorer to find and delete:
    c:\Documents and Settings\Karen\LOCAL Settings\Temp\STS4B.tmp

It is a very bad idea to allow all users to have Admin. privileges!

Plus you need to clean up this desktop:
    C:\Documents and Settings\Karen\My Documents\

Let me know if you have a problem removing that file.

    Thanks for reply TimW.
I cannot locate the file you mentioned (c:\Documents and Settings\Karen\LOCAL Settings\Temp\STS4B.tmp) my system says it does not exist.

I have not had time to categorise and file all My Documents. Most are teaching materials and it took me all my time to produce them. Hopefully I will manage to not be so tired this session and tidy things up. Lots of space on Hard Drive and it does not need defragmented. I do not understand what is wrong with my Internet Explorer and its effect on trying to print e-mails from Outlook Express.
As you say there does not seem to be a Malware issue if I can conclude that none of the programmes it was suggested that I downloaded and ran could find anything.

    Have you any other suggestions?

    Thanks again for your time.

I would suggest that you post in the software forum. You will get more assistance with this issue as it does not appear to be a malware problem.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no real-time protection. They are useful as backup scanners. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /u
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /u, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.
    3. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    4. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    6. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    7. If you are running Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures in step 3 the READ ME for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore ato create a new clean Restore Point.
    8. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
