My computer doesn't recognize any USB 2 devices when i connect them to my computer. Whenever I try to connect a USB 2 device a message pops up that states

"USB Device Not Recognized One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and windows does not recognize it. For assistance in solving this message click this message"

After i click the balloon and go to the window it open up it says that it doesn't have any drivers installed. I updated the drivers but the message still appears whenever i try to attach a usb 2 device. Ive tried to connect my external hard drive and creative mp3 player (the two devices that are giving me problems) to another computer and they work fine.

Check your BIOS's USB settings and make sure that everything is enabled and not set for USB 1.0 or 1.1- if anything, make sure they're set for 2.0 or 1.1/2.0 if you have the option. It could be the USB are faulty or have just died over time. I've seen it happen. Worst case scenario: disable the ports and buy a 4 port USB 2.0 PCI card. They're under $30 at just about any PC store, and even less online (but I'm not a fan of online shopping).
