Problems with utorrent and avi files

Ok, maybe someone can help me. Ever since I upgraded to broadband, the indicator never turns green when I'm downloading files using utorrent anymore. It stays at yellow :-o But yet, the files are still downloading so I'm wondering why it doesn't turn to green. I disabled Windows firewall and installed Zone Alarm firewall. That works fine, but I'm still puzzled as to why the indicator doesn't turn green (I guess by now you realize I'm "particular" about indicator colours).

I have also begun downloading movies, yet they download in avi format and play on the PC using VLC media player, but when it comes to burning off the movies to DVDs and playing them back on a normal DVD player attached to a television, the DVD player says it doesn't recognize the avi format. I've tried converter software like Prism Video Converter but my files aren't being converted.
