Problems with Wireless Network after ISP Problem

Our ISP had an "area-wide-outage" this morning. Before that was "known", their tech-support people (who are in another state or location from my area) had me do some things here, when I called to inquiry/complain, including by-passing my router, to check their modem here.

In the process, everything was unplugged/disconnected and then reconnected of course.

The main, "wired" PC is working (accessing the net from it to type this message to you now), however, my networked, wireless connected PC is not connecting, with the following (error) message:

"The settings saved on this computer for the network, do not match the requirements of the network".

I have tried everything I know (and some things that I wasn't sure about) to get it going - to no avail.

    Any suggestions please?

    Thanks in advance,
    g...

Not knowing what equipment you are connecting through, your ISP, or their requirements, perhaps the quickest way would be to call your ISP support again and have them tell you the correct setup to enable your wireless connections.

Thanks for the reply...I'm not sure why it would be different now, than when I first set-up this 1-PC "network" (when I networked this one PC)? more than a year ago). All I did then was follow the directions of the Belkin router, asked a question or three here (at MG's), and presto - I was up and running - wirelessly.

I mean, I'm running the same Belkini N router and same Belkin N "dongle" adapter that I was yesterday (and have been running for over a year), so all "should be" well ... correct?? But I'm getting this message, the likes of which I've never seen...???

I simply don't know what "settings" Windows (Vista Home/Basic) is referring to here in this...no clue what it's asking me to do with this message:

"The settings saved on this computer for the network, do not match the requirements of the network".

    I've looked for 24 hours........

Well I've gotten THIS far in almost 48 hours...

I've managed to determine (decipher) the remote, or, "networked" PC is not recognizing the Wireless Adapter "dongle".

I have no idea "how" to "make" this PC recognize it, other than to keep opening things and clicking-on things...?

ALL of THIS techno-wizardry, and these machines (the OS & other pertinent/relevant software) can "NOT" PROMPT me where to look?? "*Brilliant*", oh mighty geeks at MS and Belkin......abso-FRIGGIN-lutely brilliant..........what ever happened to the phrase, "USER-FRIENDLY"???
