problems with wireless ntwork - encryption

Hi,
I have a wireless network setup in my house. I have a wireless router and a access point set up as a wireless range extender. My desktop is wired to the router and I use a laptop to connect to the access point.

I am able to use the laptop to connect to the internet and access my shared files on my desktop.

I have tried everything under the sun to get the signal encrypted, but no luck. I have tried using WEP & WPA. But, everytime I try something, I cannot communicate between the router and the access point.

Can anyone help me?

Belkin - F5D7230-4
Access Point:
Belkin - F5D7130
Wireless Notebook Network card:
Belkin - F5D7010

All of the equipment is 802.11G.

Does anyone know how to setup the encryption on a wireless network? Any websites that are recent?
