problems with wireless router

    i got a wireles router that wont connect to the internet ive got a lead from the modem into the wan socket and then a lead from my pcs ethernet socket to the back of the wireless router and the other pcs have got the dongles but no one can connect to the net not even me and im plugged into it

    1. can you connect directly to the Internet without the router (direct thru the modem)? if so, then your Ethernet card is working correctly and your modem is working.

    2. is this a new router, just out of the box? did you READ THE MANUAL? also, there is usually a number you can call for Tech Support when you buy a new router and they will help you set it up.

    3. do you get connection lights when you plug the PC into the router? have you tried using different Ethernet ports on the router? do you get a connection light when you do that?

    4. for the WAN (Internet) port, do you get a flashing connection light on the front of the router (so that you know the router has Internet connectivity)?

    5. can you access your router through your browser? the default IP address for your router is included in the owner's manual. it is usually something like 192.168.15.1, 192.168.2.1, etc. you might need to do some initial setup before you can use the router. usually the username and password are 'admin'. and i highly suggest changing the password to something other than 'admin' (or 'password').

    6. have you rebooted the computer and the router after you connected everything?

    my router all lights up and looks like its working i can get onto the router broswer this is what it says
