problems with wmp

    when i try and watch a movie or listen to music on wmp i get an error saying error downloading codec however the programs still work but the movies are out of sync with the speech and they run a little slow i downloaded the latest wmp and the latest broswer but i still get the problem also i have to adjust the brightness and contrast to even see footage but i never used to have to do that any ideas?
