Hi Hillzy, Welcome to Major Geeks.

It's important to always give plenty of relevant information when you post for help. In particular your best descriprtion of the fault and the exact wording of any error messages, which often contain codes that can be interpreted.

Other useful information is what happened just before things went wrong and what, if any new programs or hardware have you installed lately?

Finally which version of Windows are you running?

am runnin xp sp2,there were no lines of code just the message windows did not start up properly, there may be a problem with recent software or hardware changes then just a list of ways to start up windows, of which non work, pc seems to start normal boot up but then returns to the same page every time, have not installed any new software only thing can think of was previous day Kaspersky let me know of corrupt temp file on c drive, cant remember the exact path but it was part of an Azureus torrent download i was doin, i acknowledged this but pc still ran ok for remainder of night and went awol when started in the mornin..

It may come to a repair install, you may even choose this way as quicker than pursuing the fault. Remember that if you do a repair install you will preserve any viruses.

Before you go down that route, try these simple things.

Boot the pc to the boot options screen by repeatedly tapping F8 as the system starts. This is slightly different from the safemode screen you have been seeing. You should have an option to disable restart on error. This will halt the system at the error and display an error message. Post this.

Secondly use you windows CD to boot to the repair console and run checkdisk.

    (chkdsk /r)

Also edit the boot.ini to add the switch /sos after fast detect etc. This will cause Windows to display each driver as it loads, againd displaying the problem at the halt point.

Post again if you need help with these proceedures.
