I'm not sure this is the right forum to ask this, and I apologize in advance if it is not. I have alot of processes running in my task manager. I think some of them are slowing down my computer, but if I go to end them I get a warning that ending it might cause my computer to become unstable and I won't be able to use some programs. How do I know if I can safely end some of these processes and where the heck to they come from? I know I didn't start out with this many! Thanks!

Use this instead of the task manager; it gives more information about what is running in background.

In addition, I would be very careful about disabling service according to advice like in the table mentioned in the above post.

This advice does not include real Network consideration (I.e. Not good for people with more them one computer).

It does not take into consideration today’s complicated system, in ,most current systems with 512MB and more in RAM, it does not really save any thing significant.

Another example, it suggests to turn Off Windows Zero Configuration Service (WZC).

I.e. if the person goes Wireless, his Wireless would not work.
