processor requiremnts

when games say a 1.4ghz processor(just an example) do they mean a i.4 ghz intel processor or whether intel or amd it reauires a 1.4 ghz processor on both?
i am asking this bcoz amd processors run at low ghz but their model numbers represent taht they actually comapre with intels with higher mhzs.
for eaxmple the sempron 2200+ runs at 1.5 ghz but is comparable to an inel with 2.2 ghz
please answer the above aueston

 

The speeds that games list are usually the lowest at which the game will run. The speeds listed are the speeds the processor is listed at. Generally the game will "recommend" another speed which will enhance game performance, or at least allow it to be played the way it is supposed to be.

So, if your game says it needs at least 1.5GHz then your processor should be listed at 1.5GHz. IF you know your processor runs faster I do not see why it would not work, unless the game tests your system for compatibility and won't allow you to play because of the lower listed speed.

the sempron is actually comapred to an intel with 2.2 ghz althougs the mhzs are 1.5.
so this means that games reqiuring around 1.8 or something between 1.5 and 2.2 would run fine right

 

Any game with a speed listed in between your range of 1.5 - 2.2 should work fine. The game may still warn you that your system requirements are not sufficient, when you try to install it.

Note, when a game says it reccomends a 1.5ghz CPU for example, it usually words it as 1.5ghz or equivalent. So a 1.5ghz P4 and an AMD 1500+ would fall into the same category there.
