Hello again and how is everything? Good I hope.

I have a question which I hope that I can get some help with.\

My motherboard is a GA 7VKML and it has an Athlon 64 1.3Ghz and I feel that it is getting out of date. I want to get a new processor for this motherboard that is at least 2.6Ghz and an 8x Speed. Is there any chance that it will fit on this board or do I need to update motherboard and processor?

I just don't want to be spending a lot of money if I do not need to. Also, can someone give me any information about the Acer Aspire T130 please. At the moment it is going for $398 (AUS)?

    Thanks

Hi there Scott. Is there any way that I can find that out? Is there any programs that can assess whether or not my computer needs a fix up?

    Thanks

you could download a program call everest it will let u know everything your computer got.also there are jumpers on motherboard that changes your speed , need to read that little box in the settings for that jumper and see what it says.

You need to find out what socket type your mobo is. I'm thinking it'll either be 939 or 754. Don't worry about what processors it support because you'll more than likely get another Athlon 64. Let us know when you find out what socket type it is and we'll start shopping for you a new processor.

Well, thanks again. They're not as dear as I thought also, is that the price in the US of A or is that price here in Australia?

    Thanks

Also, I have seen that the back shield is different to mine. I have the PS/2 Mouse and PS/2 Keyboard parallel to each other, not the way that the pictures is shown. Can I still replace the back shield and install the new motherboard? So, also, what you're saying is that I can replace both Mobo and Processor just by replacing the back shield?

Hiya Yank. Is this a program that assesses what my computer needs and if it needs an update?

Ok, I have another question. If I was to buy a new motherboard and matching processor, would it be easy to install or do I have to be a rocket scientist? LOL. The reason why I ask this is because it is cheaper to buy the Mobo and Processor and do it myself than to get a shop to put it in. Also, would I expect any problems during installation?

should be easy. just unscrew your current mobo and remove, then install the new mobo and screw it down. then the processor is a little trickier, there will be a lever on the mobo next to the socket you will be putting the cpu in. lift it up, then set the processor in. DO NOT FORCE IT IN!!!!!! The processor only goes in one way. you should be able to match the little arrow in one of the corners of the cpu to an identical arrow on the socket. then the heatsink/fan go on top of the processor. boom. plug everything back in the way it was and you're done. I would suggest drawing your current mobo layout on a piece of paper and then when you install the new mobo you can see where everything goes. Also both of these items come with documentation so it shouldn't be too terribly hard.

    Yes it's in USD.

So, will I have to buy a new back panel to fit the new Mobo? Because I know that mobo's need their own special slots to be installed.

nope, it comes with it's very own new shiny chrome looking back panel. Just remove the old one, it should just pop out, and pop the new one in.

Thanks heaps ppl. I am gonna go Mobo and Processor shopping in the near future as this PC has some life left in it. In regards to the Mobo speed and that little box thingy, where exactly is it? I am referring to the jumpers.
