    Okay, so I've installed proftpd on my Ubuntu box using:

    Code:
    apt-get install proftpd
    And I've set it to run in standalone mode. However, whenever I attempt to start the daemon, I get this/these error message(s):

    Code:
    IPv4 getaddrinfo 'CGLWEB' error: Name or service not known
    warning: unable to determine IP address of 'CGLWEB'
    error: no valid servers configured
    Fatal: error processing configuration file '/etc/proftpd/proftpd.conf'
    [[COLOR="Red"]fail[/COLOR]]
    Now the hostname it is looking for is a problem; the server is NOT called CGLWEB. Not sure where it's getting this hostname, though. I've got it set correctly in /etc/hostname and /etc/hosts. Also, every other machine on the network can ping the PROPER hostname, and it resolves to the correct IP. Is there anywhere else I can look?

    Research is telling me that the IP/hostname is only a warning, which causes me to think that he config file might be the REAL issue, but I don't even know where to start with that one. Can anyone advise?

    TIA

    Milty

    Alright!
    I'm apparently retarded!

    I never tried changing the host name in the command prompt. I used

    Code:
    sudo hostname [I]newhostname[/I]
    And it has resolved the issue.
