The exact program I am referring to is So think SWF to Video converter. This is one of my most important most frequently used programs on my computer. The Same day I last used it, was the same day it decided to stop working. The last thing I did before the last time I used it was make one last conversion for two videos, and then allow windows XP to install updates.

I usually don't allow windows to install updates because it always ask me while I am in the middle of doing something else and I don't feel like restarting the computer just to install some updates that I don't care about. Anyway, I allowed the updates to take place and restarted the computer. The next thing I know is, when I go to use my program I receive this error:

How do I fix this and why has it occurred in the first place? Never happened before, especially without reason (Meaning random error). I ran disk de-fragmentation and even tried to use one of the registry fix programs located on this website, with no avail. I updated my flash version and installed application that I probably don't need. I also used cc cleaner. Sill no avail.

I am just letting you know that I have took steps already to solve problem, and the ones I took so I don't get asked what I did or didn't do. I also attempted to search for this problem on Google to see if anyone else received it, but it's an odd error. I have almost never seen anything like it. I also ran 3 virus scanners and they came up with nothing.

I appologize I am unable to answer your question at the moment. You see the thing is, this simple problem has now turned into a catastrophe and my whole computer not working just trying to fix it.

You see, after I had let my computer go through normal updates, this application and a few similar ones on my computer started to not function right. This was due to an update with internet explorer. So I figured I would uninstall internet explorer and then reinstall it. Bad decision. Because I did that, I was unable to reinstall it. Turns out, you actually can't uninstall internet explorer. This would of been some useful information before hand.

Anyway, I had came on here figuring out how to get internet explorer to run again and one user suggested uninstalling service pack 3. This did seem kind of odd step for me to do. Especially since I had started off with a simple problem. However, this user had emphasized it's removal and the step was evne listed on Microsoft website. So I did it, and that's when this problem just went downhill ever since.

Now I am not faced with a simple application problem anymore, but a risk of losing all my files on my pc and my computer not being able to boot. I was able to get it to boot in safe mode. However, recently trying to desperately solve the problem and no one to help I deleted another important system file. Now my computer gets an error and doesn't even boot in safe mode and then it goes to blue screen of death.

In short, this topic is now invalid because of the time it took just to get a response and because of listening to bad advice given from a user on the forums about how to fix the problem. Now I am faced with a even more major problem due to stupidity and lack of computer knowledge. This one could wipe out all of my files and work that I have spent months trying to complete and being on the brink of releasing.

However, if you think you have a solution to the problem then you can still post here. At the moment I am going to contact dell and yes pay to get the problem fixed :cry. Sad part about it is, I might lose my files in the process. Something I really can't afford.

To try and backup your files download a LinuxMint main edition ISO which can be used to create a live linux CD.

Write it to CD as an image file using imgburn.

Boot from the CD. It will load to a desktop very similar to Windows. Click on Computer and browse to your Windows installation and find the files to copy. Insert a USB flash drive and copy your files.
