Program "CleanMem" help

  1. I downloaded the program from here, majorgeeks and I ran the settings and then I attempted to run the mini monitor and it just rebooted my computer as if I restarted it manually myself. Is this supposed to happen or what?

  3. Experiencing that really sucked. I had a bunch of stuff up that needed to be saved before I was to restart my computer. Was NOT expecting it to restart my computer. I see the screen shot of the mini monitor, something I never saw. A real and true shame. I will try to run it again in a few, it was to help with another past issue that still lingers and lingers.

    Hi NEWTO,

Just a tip for the future reference: I have downloaded and tested many, many freeware and shareware programs over the years and I can tell you from my own experience that it is never a good idea to have numerous other programs running (especially with work which needs to be saved) while downloading and installing new programs.

The new programs or updates of older programs not only occasionally require a forced restart of the computer but more often; can "freeze up" your computer while you’re downloading and/or installing as well; forcing the user to shutdown and restart. Therefore it is always the better practice to take a few moments to shut down as many running programs as you possibly can, prior to installing new applications or updating older ones.

The Bottom Line: These two intermittent problems; losing unsaved work and only half-installing a program due to a computer freezing up causing a forced restart are a nuisance; but can usually be avoided by taking just a few moments extra in order to close as many running programs as possible beforehand.

    Good Luck...

  5. The program was completely installed. I went to go run the mini monitor after running the CleanMem settings. CleanMem settings first ran, then closed, then attempted to run CleanMem Mini Monitor. It was then it went black and the computer restarted. You see? I know it is always good to save unsaved data. Oh do I know. Been the victim of that more than once.
