Okay, here's the deal. I am going to reload my operating system, because I have too many problems and restore is not taking care of it. Somewhere in my system my operations are getting hung up if I want to download or even if I want to uninstall and I'm tired of working around it.

I want to copy the paid programs I have on to a CD, rather than contact each individial vendor with my license, etc and look everthing up. Exactly how do I do this? Can anyone outhere help me...

Yes and no. Some programs will run if you simply backup the folder, but some will not if it uses files that are installed in the Windows folder, or places registry entries it relies on, for example. This is a tricky question because it varies from program to program. Often times, if you know your serial number a lot of them will work.

True, a restore point could have saved the beginning of your problems. Have you cleared up excess startup items, cleaned your hard drive of unneeded files, uninstalled unneeded programs, scandisked and defragged, etc?

If not, let us know and we will point you to some programs. Ad-Aware or Spybot S&D will scan for spyware for you to start. They can be downloaded in our spyware tools section.

You might want to search the MG list of programs to see if the ones you want to keep are listed there. If they are, then you just save the setup file download to your disk (I usually save it to desktop) and when you're ready to install just click on the file. It also has the double benefit of being the latest version number of the proggie if you do it that way.
