I ran all the programs listed under Windows XP Cleaning and have attached the last logs per your request. I hope someone can help. The problem is that the computer runs fine (XP SP3) but programs close slowly. It resolves on restart but then happens again. Thanks

You need to also attach the logs from SAS and MWB's.

I'm not seeing any malware, but I suspect that you have a lot of running processes that are probably the reason.

I would suggest that you post in the software section for further assistance.

    In the meantime:

    1. If we used ComboFix then UNINSTALL COMBOFIX (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
    2. Click START then RUN
    * Now type "%userprofile%\Desktop\cf" /u in the runbox ( or whatever you renamed it to) and click OK.
    * Note: The space between the cf and the /U, it must be there.
    3. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    4. You can delete the C:\MGtools folder and the C:\MGtools.exe file. You can also delete the C:\MGlogs.zip
    5. If you are running Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
    * Refer to the cleaning steps in the READ ME for your Window version and see the steps to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
    * Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    6. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:

I thought you would want to know...I was unable to connect to the internet this morning and found that when I closed my Zone Alarm Pro, I was able to connect and also found that now my programs open and close perfectly! I guess that one program was interfering with all programs closing. FYI. Thanks again for your help!

Thanks for that. I will work on the ZA fix but also...I guess I was wrong. My programs are, in fact, still closing slowly! Damn!

You may wish to use a Startup Manager ...then post in the software section.

I only have four items in my start up menu. I am wondering if other processes start running after my computer is on for awhile that begin to interefere with programs closing. Or, could one of the Microsoft updates have done this?

Hopefully when you post in the software section, they will ask you to look at your task manager and notice what processes are using system resources when you are trying to close things.
