    Hi,

first of all, thanks for the useful content in this website!

About two days ago, my pc started behaving crazily! Already a couple of months ago, my microphone stopped working so I had to use an external one. Then a couple of days ago, Skype told me that it couldn't detect my pc camera, the microphone and the speaker because it couldn't find my sound card (all working a few hours before). I noticed as well that I had a new extension in my Google Chrome that I was unaware off called "Start Savin". Besides, windows media player wouldn't launch and at the moment no sounds are played with the exception of the windows in-built ones (like the opening sound and the folders click sound). I have tried to uninstall Start Savin but even opening the "Uninstall programmes" in the control panel is difficult as I click and nothing happens. I once did manage to find the list of programmes but whenever I try to uninstall a programme it says something like "An error has occurred. The program may already be uninstalled."
At the moment, internet explorer is also not launching.

I have followed your guide "READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide" and ran all the programmes with the exception of Malwarebytes anti-malware whose installation was unsuccessful. Almost at the end of its installation, the following messages showed up: "CoCreateInstance failed; code 0x80040154. Non registered class" followed by several boxes with "Run time error '0' " and "Run time error '440' Automation error".
I have installed AVAST that has detected and put in quarantine 16 threats. I ran TDSSKiller, RogueKiller, HitmanPro and MGTools and tried to run Malwarebytes afterwords but without success.
The problems I had at the beginning still persist even after running CCleaner, TDSSKiller, RogueKiller, HitmanPro and MGtools.

Please find the log files of these programmes, as well as the log of the RKill and the threats identified by avast in the following link: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/wfy95v0574hfcot/D7J-VHNd1A . For some reason, I wasn't able to attached them directly.

    What's your advice?

Many thanks in advance for your help!

    Cheers,
    Dane_789

You must try to attach the logs here next time, perhaps using a different browser or something. I know dropbox is safe, it's just that external links un nerve me somewhat.

Re run Hitman Pro and have it remove Potential Unwanted Programs.

Please disable all anti-virus and anti-spyware programs while we do the following (re-enable when you are finished):

Run C:\MGtools\analyse.exe by double clicking on it (Note: if using Vista, don't double click, use right click and select Run As Administrator). This is really HijackThis (select Do a system scan only) and select the following lines but DO NOT CLICK FIX until you exit all browser sessions including the one you are reading in right now:

    • R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://start.mysearchdial.com/?f=1&a=dnldmsd&cd=
    • O1 - Hosts: 54.225.95.126 imfpmncmbojnbdhnogcegojocabhpbnh
    • O2 - BHO: Start Savin BHO - {181F2C09-56DD-4F98-86D7-59BA2BC59B5A} - (no file)
    • O2 - BHO: (no name) - {72853161-30C5-4D22-B7F9-0BBC1D38A37E} - (no file)
    • O9 - Extra button: Send to OneNote - {2670000A-7350-4f3c-8081-5663EE0C6C49} - (no file)
    • O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: S&end to OneNote - {2670000A-7350-4f3c-8081-5663EE0C6C49} - (no file)
    • O9 - Extra button: Research - {92780B25-18CC-41C8-B9BE-3C9C571A8263} - (no file)
    After clicking Fix exit HJT.

Now Copy the bold text below to notepad. Save it as fixME.reg to your desktop. Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved it double click it and allow it to merge with the registry.

Make sure that you tell me if you receive a success message about adding the above
to the registry. If you do not get a success message, it definitely did not work.

http://imageshack.us/a/img841/7292/thisisujrt.gif Please download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
    • Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
    • Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista or Seven, right-mouse click it and select Run as Administrator.
    • The tool will open and start scanning your system.
    • Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
    • On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
    • Attach JRT.txt to your next message.

Now run the C:\MGtools\GetLogs.bat file by double clicking on it. (Right click and run as admin if using Vista, Windows7 or Win8) Then attach the new C:\MGlogs.zip file that will be created by running this.

Let me know of any problems you may have encountered with the above instructions and also let me know how things are running now!

    Hi,

    thanks for your reply!

I did as you suggested and I didn't run into any problems - your instructions were quite clear! I got a success message when merging the file with the registry so I guess that worked.

I attach the MGtools.zip file, the JRT.text and the list of the PUPs deleted by HitmanPro.

Unfortunately, all the problems still persist.

What do you think I should do next?

    Thanks.

    Hi there. :)

Am I correct in saying you no longer have malware issues but software issues?

    Hi,

I suppose you are right! I just thought that most of the software issues I am facing were related to the presence of malware...
So if there are still here, it must be something else.. perhaps I should seek help somewhere else in the Forum?

    Thanks

Yes, I think so considering we've worked together to remove any garbage here in this forum. Best of luck in resolving the outstanding problems in the software forum. :)

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others) and running MGclean.bat did not remove them, you can delete these files now.
    3. Renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it in step 4 of the READ & RUN ME.
    4. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    5. If running Vista, Win 7 or Win 8, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    6. Now goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    7. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.

    8. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
