Programs open and close slowely

I have Win XP SP3 and plenty of RAM and space. Suddenly, programs are opening and closing very slowely. All seems to be working fine. I use CrapCleaner and 3 other antispyware programs as well as Symantec Antivirus and all scans show no problems. Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks

How much free hard drive space do you have? When was the last time you defragmented your hard drive?

45GB used space and 100GB Free space. Did a defrag yesterday

Restore to an earlier time and see if the computer is running faster. If not, it could indicate some hardware beginning to fail.

not sure if this has been done anytime recently, heat will cause electronics to slow down, when was the last time the unit was cleaned out for dust?

You say you have ccleaner, go to tools, start up, disable anything you dont need, or as i do, if i have a shortcut to a program it gets disabled. Except my antivirus and my diskeeper. ed

Thanks for your replies everyone. I did the system restore. Interesting it said it was not able to create the point I chose but yet everything seems to be running faster and seems fine now.
