Programs Running In The Background

I found that there's a lot of useless programs running which are hardly used
ie print spooler, printer (2) , -- there was up to 17 running different programs running
is there a program that will enable these background processes to be turned off
I presume then eg, when I want to use the printer, there'll be a small delay -- that's ok
bu it will speed up the processs all the rest of the time

all suggestions welcome

 

Basically you just stop them starting -- A startup manager can be the best option, so that you do not stop an important service. This will ensure any changes are safe.

I use Advanced system Care myself, and even the free version includes a start up tool.

I had the wrong idea, I thought startup managers were for machine startup only , not also to manage other program startups

I've used it on every pc in the house for I don't know how long. Shows MS's software as well as computer manufacturer's software ( which you don't always need or want) as well as video or sound drivers and things like dropbox or cloud backup or other things eating up your resources. Any thing look odd --ask about it.

 

Autoruns by SysInternals as was mentioned in previous post is indispensable for startup progs as well as for other features
