Programs stop responding randomly ?

I've had this problem for a while and I can't seem to figure out how to fix it.

When I use software such as Flash MX or Sculptris or even play games like Oblivion or Team Fortress 2, whenever I do many things at once (such as click too many buttons or choose tools very fast) the program stops responding and I have no choice but to close it.

It's as if my computer automatically closes programs that suddenly take too much memory to use i.e. cannot handle my fast tool selection or button pressing.

It frustrates me because I often lose progress of my work and it is so random. I have to be very careful and slow with every action I do.

Is there a way to make my computer understand that when programs might take too much memory at a specific time, it doesn't close them with the "Program Not Responding" error?

This happens on my ASUS K52J laptop.
