Programs will not run

    I have downloaded a couple programs that will install properly on my computer, but when I click on the icon for the program an hourglass will come up for about a second and nothing happens. This has only happened twice, with adaware se and ripit4me. I am running XP and AVG. Any help would be appreciated because I would love to be able to run these programs,

    Did you install the programs from the administrator account?

    Can you try running them from a different account and see if there is a difference.../

    You also might want tho right click the icon / properties / and check the "target path" ....it may be invalid ....if it isn't the folder will come right up with all the files in the program ....or go through My computer / until you come to the program files and right click the .exe file and save as to desktop as a shortcut ....then remove the non-working one.:)

    I tried it under another account and it still brings the hourglass up for a sec and nothing happens. I also follwed the target path and it brought the file up in my program files. When I downloaded ripit4me it was bundled with fixVTS. The fixVTS works fine but ripit does not. So I assume it was downloaded fine since one of them works. Would it have anything to do with AVG that I am running.

    Not AVG .....but possibly what you downloaded ...would suggest a system restore to before you downloaded that.
