    I need to know how to do this:
    At work the tech guys have computer for us to use the internet where all that comes up in matter of seconds as soon as you start it is just the Internet. at church we have a computer that I'm trying to use to project songs however it takes long for the computer to start, I think it is because all the programs that start at the time we turn the computer on.
    I need to know how to make this faster, we have a pentium 4 ( 1.8g) 500 meg( men). it is a Dell computer.:(

    Start => Run => MSCONFIG=> Startup tab

    Post what it says here so we can help trim it down.

    Also is this a windows XP machine?

    @studiot: That is the worst time I've ever seen! You should really fix that.

    Thanks padams. The list might be very large though, so a screenshot may be in order.

    Also, make sure you don't use msconfig to disable startup items as a solution, it mucks up your registry big time.

    6 minute boot time is unacceptable by any standard and even XP in its default state should not have that problem.

    Does it take this long to boot into Safe Mode?
