    Hello guy's. After reading many,many posts on many forums i am still waiting to find a working solution to my problem?

    ps2 keyboard not working xp pro, i am a novice pc user and need step by step instructions.
    List of things done so far;
    1) uninstalled drivers/updated
    2) tried new keyboard and usb keyboard.
    3) both work in bios but not windows.
    4)scanned with malware,avg,stopilla and tuneup utilities and no problems found?

    I'm using on screen keyboard which is a nightmare! Can anyone help short of re-installing windows?

    I have system32 with service packs 1,2 and 3 installed, i do not have discs for these, i downloaded from windows update.

    Thank you, manxman (Mark)

    Greetings, manxman02, and welcome to MajorGeeks...

    Couple of quick background questions:

    1. What's your motherboard make and model #, or if this is an OEM machine what's the make and model # (please include any Service Tag #s)?

    2. Have you checked your machine's BIOS for any legacy PS2/USB settings? If such settings exist, try toggling to see if there is a change in symptoms.

    * Be advised: this thread will probably be moved to the Software Forum.

    It sounds like you have done this correctly since the keyboards are recognized in BIOS but I just want to mention that you can't switch keyboards while the machine is booted. The computer must be off when switching keyboards or restarted after switching keyboards to have them recognized.

    I think this is the case also but just want to verify. You boot the computer and the keyboard lights up then as BIOS ends the lights go out and as Windows starts there is no flash of keyboard lights. (Normally as Windows starts the keyboard would again flash and then a light would stay illuminated.)

    I have no idea what is going on, I just want to understand the situation.
