I have a 360 and Love it! All my friends have them too and its great to play together on LIVE. While about half of us has had to replace their system because of the Red Ring of Death, Hopefully, any hardware problems with the Xbox 360 have been revised with the newest revision Jasper. Here's a link describing how you can tell if the 360 you're looking at is a Jasper revision or not. Link I'd say that given the fact that Jasper is supposed to eliminate the RROD problem, a 360 is a great way to go. Especially since its considerably cheaper and has a great game library. I can't bring myself to purchase a PS3 because of the price, and the fact that 90% of the games that interest me are also available for the 360. The only games that I would want to play at this current time on the PS3 is Little Big Planet, and Metal Gear. I couldn't justify spending that much money to play two games.

In the end though, its up to you and what your game preferences are. I'd take a look at the exclusives for each console and decide on what you want to play and make your decision based on that.

They've said that about every single new revision they've come out with... meanwhile, my PS3 has been Folding every night, playing movies and games every day, and still has no hardware problems at all. And we have had it for over a year.

One more thing: the PS3 comes with a wireless controller, built-in bluray player, and built-in wifi adapter. If you want any of that for the 360, budget a few $100 extra for accessories, and even more for the hard drive upgrade if you want one, since the 360 doesn't let you buy any standard 2.5" SATA drive on sale and just pop it in there as an upgrade.

The game libraries are close to the same... if I was going to get only one of the two, I'd buy a PS3 in a heartbeat.

If you ignore all the problems you will probably get, 360 wins by far. Better games, graphics, Live, cheaper, better controllers(triggers FTW) . Sony has made the same mistake 3 times in a row, Their SPUs are to complicated and very hard to take full advantage of, on paper PS3 looks like it wins, bit in reality no one has come close to using the full potential because of its level of difficulty to develop. 360s graphics win in every way, GPU is more powerful, It has more powerful fillrate, and far more pixel and vertex processing horsepower.

also most multiplatform games are being ported from the 360 to the PS3 (unlike current gen, PS2 to Xbox). Blue-ray isnt that big of a deal, with all the Downloadable movies available on both Live and PSN.

If you are a hardcore gamer, you will want a 360, If you are a casual gamer, PS3.

WARNING: your 360 will break though, I guarantee it, but if you have the patience you can fix these from home for free. I have done it easily.

yer, tbh i only like the 360 because of its games.... i dont like the 360 game pad.... i mean... i dont know if there are any other pads out there for it.... but comon...im sure the gaming world has moved on from AA batterys? o.o also the PS3 seems to have allot more to offer for its money. BTW which console is best for war / shooting games?

sorry about my spelling, and thanks for the tips :p

Well I would disagree with the controllers, they are awesome, a big improvement from the clunky reg Xbox controllers which I despised.

You can get rechargeable battery packs.

also PS3 costs alot more and it only has Blue-Ray which ,for me, is useless because I dont buy movies and I dont have an HD tv anyways. $200 more and the new PS3s cant even play PS2 games.

It depends what shooting games you like, 360 has Halo 3 and PS3 has MGS4. other than that, the rest of the good ones are multiplatform.

noonnoo i think the pads r cool too, just batterys in a game pad i thaught is a bit silly, and when u think about it... all the things u need to buy for the x box... cooling thing.... battery charger pack(S)....... Live an more... o.o it comes closer to the price of the PS3 doesnt it =/

The Guy and I have spent a lot more money on our 360 than on our PS3, that we did not have to buy any accessories to at all. Counting the wifi adapter, the HD-DVD player and the wireless controllers, we've probably spent roughly $1,000 on the 360, wen all is said and done. For that money we've had a barely functional console that is now on its way to die again. That makes it the fourth time. The cooling in teh 360 is inadequate, to say the least, and the noise coming from that thing when it's running is unbelievable.

By the way, good shooting games belong on the PC, not on a console. ;) If that's what you like though, look up which exclusives you want the most and get that console. Ultimately, you pick your console based on what types of games you prefer to play. Or, you're like me and you pick the one that won't charge you extra for either the online service, the wifi adapter, the wireless controller, that lets you upgrade the hard drive easily, and that does a much better job of upscaling DVDs. ;)

i was going to buy a ps3 until i decided that i already have a ps2 and i barely use it, so what would be the point of spending $300+ on a system that can't even play my existing library of perfectly good ps2 games? gonna use that money to upgrade my comp instead :p

i would much rather have a ps3 though just because you can install linux on it and because of better graphics.

I love playing PC, but keeping up today is getting really expensive. Most new games push the envelope with graphics cards, and that can equal a lot of money in the long run. I have had both a 360 and a PS3(had to sell them to pay rent), my 360 did rather well, I got it a month after release and it Red Ringed once, also I think they may have the days of that behind them with the new hardware.

In deciding a system for you there are 2 main factors that I consider. The first is do you want to play online. I know they both have online systems, but to be honest PS3 can not touch Xbox Live. You have to pay, but the servers are faster, better match making, and easier to play with friends. The second is what system has the exclusives that you want to play. Right now I really want to play Little Big Planet and Kill Zone 2 so I will be getting a PS3 as soon as I can afford it.
