There anybody else that is extremely impressed with this?
Could be ditching the old PC when the PS3 comes out!

 

PS3+ HDTV required to give you those nice graphics=the price of 2 PCs that will be able to do the same by the time the PS3 is released.

I already have a 55in HDTV, but for many, thats still not an option for just a gaming system.

 

I'm impressed, but I don't have HDTV. I am sure I will before too long. I'm sure I'll have the PS3 before the HDTV though.

 

Most people will probably already have a HDTV by the time ps3 is released and the graphics will still be amazing on a standard TV.

The ps3 is rumoured to be around $399 maybe less,

if you can find me a PC for $200 that will be match the graphics of a ps3 on an ordinary TV (now or in 6 months) then I will be very very impressed!

There is also going to be a bluetooth keyboard and mouse that comes with the ps3 aswell as the ordinary controller.

 

Also, today's TV runs at the equivalent of 640x480.

Show many any 300-400 dollar PC that can't do that.

I mean, why compare a 200 dollar PC when the PS3 is probably gonna debut at 399? Note I originally said the price of HDTV+PS3? That does not mean a 200 dollar PC.

As for most people having an HDTV by the time the PS3 is out...very, very slim chances.

 

I don't really PC game (other than CS 1.6 which is extremely old) and don't plan on upgrading my computer just for games so I will be purchasing a PS3 and will hopefully have a 42" Plasma come April, whenver the new Panny's are released...

My PC already does everything I need it to do in the non-gaming department so I can't justify buying a new one for gaming...

I am comparing a $200 PC because you said that the price of 2 pc's will be able to do the same by the time the ps3 is released! ps3 debuting at $400, $400/2 = $200!

Im not meaning to be argumentitive but I just think that a PS3 will be great value for money when it comes out, and I dont think it is neccessary to spend $8000 dollars on a hdtv to enjoy a ps3!

To buy a PC to run the same graphics as a PS3 on a normal TV would cost a lot more than $400! Or do you disagree?

I think it will be very nice, don't get me wrong. But to surpass the PC...you know, its not like the PC isn't always advancing. I think thats far fetched. Consoles make this claim every time a new one comes out. Each time, they fail to succeed.

I guess we will see!

 

Ps3 will be good, but good compared to other consoles. I do not know all the specs for it, but if pc's are not ahead of it now, by the time it comes out it will be eating dust.

If I could afford it I would go with the best PC everytime, but I earn a cool $7000 a year so a high end PC is out of my range!

You have a 55" hdtv? COOL, I wish I had a normal TV that big!

 

i'm pretty sure I read that the PS3 is going to support 1080 P, which will be the next HDTV standard... I'm going to wait to buy a TV that supports that.

No way I'll buy another HDTV for 1080p though. 1080i is sufficient as is for me.

 

Yeah I wouldn't recommend buying one just for that but I don't already own an HD compatible TV so I figure I'll wait a little to get one that offers the latest technology in resolution...
