PSE 6 gone! Won't install from disc. HELP!

My much used and loved Photoshop Elements 6 has disappeared! (actually, it is still there I just can't open it) I have Window's Vista. I have tried repairing (didn't work), deleting then reinstalling from the disc (didn't work), and downloading a trial version from Adobe web site (didn't work). I am now figuring that is isn't the program but my computer or OS. I click on the icon (the program does install it just won't run) and it says a file is missing. Hopefully, this is an easy fix and someone out there knows exactly what is wrong.

Typically this happens if Vista thinks your using a pirated copy of something. Its part of Vista's DRM crap. If your application is indeed a legal one, you will have to go thru Adobe and perhaps MS to get it back again.

 

My copy was VERY legal and it had been working for the past year or so. I started with PSE4 then switched to 6.0. Even a downloaded trial version will not work. Someone PLEASE???!!!

When you install the trial version right click on exe file and run as admin.

 

Thank you for your help. I never got a chance to run thru all the actions on the adobe site because my hard drive crashed. GONE! I'm wondering if my problem with PSE 6 was a warning sign! It was covered under warranty so I'm thankful most things were backed up. Hopefully with starting over the problem will be resolved.
