Well, I ran AdAware, Smitfraud, Spybot S&D, and even uninstalled on Add/Remove programs, but still this stupid program is here. The annoying "YOU MAY BE INFECTED" desktop is gone, but still, that little red dot with the exclamation point is in the corner of the screen with my other icons, and I still get WARNING popup adds from Internet Explorer even though I'm in Mozilla. Smitfraud installed Yahoo Toolbar on Mozilla with an Anti-Spy program on it, so I'm going to try that. But in case it doesn't work, please recommend some programs, please? I read the stickys. Also, I'm on Windows XP.

What do you mean you ran Smitfraud????? Smitfraud is the problem. Did you run the removal tool floating around on the internet called SmitRem? I included it below.

    Download SmitRem

Then boot to safe mode and run smitRem.exe and follow the prompts.
It will create a log at C:\smitfiles.txt - Please attach it to your next message.

You said you read the stickies but did you run ALL the steps in the READ ME FIRST?

Smitrem, that's what I meant. Sorry. I did run it, but it didn't seem to pick up all that much. And while my comp seems to be fine now, back to its usual speed, I also added Spyware Blaster. Will that help keep things away in addition to what I already have? Also, Spybot S&D still picks up a trace of PSguard and something called Xuron that makes it unable to finish scanning.

Nothing provides absolutely perfect protection. That's part of the reason we recommend multiple applications. Since you still seem to be having problems you should run the below procedure. Also I would like to see the log from your SmitRem run.

    - Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal

Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

    - Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps below:

    - Download HijackThis 1.99.1

    - Unzip the hijackthis.exe file to a folder you create named C:\Program Files\HJT

    - Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the downloaded ZIP file.

    - Before running HijackThis: You must close each of the following:your web browser, e-mail client, instant messenger, and programs like notepad, wordpad, MS Word etc. And any other unnecessary running programs.

    - Run HijackThis and save your log file.

    - Post your log as an ATTACHMENT to your next message. (Do NOT copy/paste the log into your post).
