    Hi,

I Recently bought a few new parts for my Dell Dimension 4700.

Umm just a moments ago I was trying to install Intell Active Monitor. And the whole PC went on almost like standby, The Screen Button went orange and the all the lights went orange so. I immediately turned it off and unplugged it. Only Drawback to the PSU I had in it was it had no SATA Connector for my HDD. I got an adapter. Possible the Demise of the PSU?

I pulled it out the PSU and put in the Stock 305 Watt Powersupply it fired right up though I'm not sure it's safe to run this PSU with all this hardware.

Any suggestions on PSU I was thinking this:

Was actually sort a of a question really, But I'm guessing my question was answered in front of me, The PC fired up with the old PSU and not the one I had in it.

Guess that means it was the PSU lol.

Using an underpowered PSU isnt dangerous in the least bit, it could just cause system instability. And yes, it seems to be a PSU problem. When it comes to a PSU, dont go for the cheaper ones, buy name brand even though it may be more expensive, that one you got right there seems that it could be a lil sketchy...

I would stay away from thermaltake, a guy on the pcg forum got one of thier cigarette lighter/cupholder lan party things and apparently it was wired wrong and fried literally everything in his system.

that looks good but I dunno, I think this antec might be a b etter deal

and of course antec makes standard ATX, out of the 400 psus on newegg only about 3 of them are not standard ATX, trust me, I had a hard time finding a micro ATX for my dads old pavillion.

That looks good but, It says ATX12V (Does that matter?) I mean if it will run and fit in my rig than I'm all for it. Problem is it doesn't have enough peripherals. But I can probably make do.

I think so, it has a 20+4 pin connector so it will work with old or new mobos.
