PSU Problems?

I just installed a new PSU. The one I had before was only 300w, and it wasnt enough for my new case, and some of the stuff I was gonna be throwing in. I replaced the stock with this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817148008 and since the install earlier this afternoon, Ive noticed that when I play World of Warcraft, everything freezes up, and I have to restart the PC. Could this be a problem with the PSU?

I made sure that I disconnected everything correctly, and as I disconnected each plug from the old PSU, I replaced it with the corresponding plug to the new PSU. I cant think of anything I did wrong. I was static free, and did the work on my dining room table, so it was a clean area.

Is there anything I can do to make sure that everything is working properly? Could I be putting too much power to my system?

I installed SpeedFan thinking that my system could be overheating, the temps are right now:
    Ambient: 88F
    Remote 1: 81F
Remote 2: 232F (that seems crazy high)
    Local Temp: 95F
    Remote Temp: 81F
    HD0: 93F

I do have the fans on 75% right now, and earlier when I was playing, I had them on 75%, and my temps were a lil higher, most all but Remote 2 were in the 90s, while Remote 2 has stayed in the 200s. Could that be my problem, or is it just way too hot to be realistic?

I just dont want anything to go wrong and have it crap out on me. My system is in my sig, so if anyone has any ideas what I can do to check everything out, please let me know. THANK YOU!

World of Warcraft played fine before? Have you connected power to the video card?

Most importantly......what part is "Remote 2"?

It played fine before. When I first got my videocard, my PC had shut down once, but after that it ran fine.

It doesnt say what Remote 2 is, so Im not too sure what exactly it is. Could it be the videocard?

Im not sure if this makes a difference, or if its reversed, but the fan on the heatsink for the processor is spinning so its sucking air and blowing it on the cpu. Isnt it supposed to be sucking the warm air off the CPU? The fan thats right next to it on the back, is blowing air out. Could that be part of my problem too?

I just DLed and ran MSI PC Alert, and it states that the voltage for my +12v is at 8.61, with a warning light.

Does this mean that Im not putting out enough power?

This is what SpeedFan is reading as my temp and voltages are. Anyone have any idea what to do?

After another Freeze, and a restart directly from the PSU, it now says its pumping out 15.94v.

    What gives?

    No one has any ideas?

Well, I swapped out the PSU for the old one that I had no problems with, and it was running fine. Thought I was in the clear, and could just return the new one to Newegg. Nope. About half hour into playing, it froze up again. I restarted, and about 5 minutes into the game it froze again. Restarted, 5 minutes later freeze up.

Could the PSU be bad, and have caused problems with the motherboard?

Either way, Im exchanging the PSU (any recommendations as to some reliable brands and models under $100?) for another one.

Is there any way to test if the motherboard is damaged?

    Ya I got two Ideas.
Your voltages on the 12v rail running from 8.61 to 15.94v, If these readings are correct, this is not good, suggest dont use this PSU (RMA, might try a better brand, Ive always had good Luck & stable voltages from Antec's)

If any componet is running at 232F, not good, somethings too HOT, ya said freeze ups when play warcraft, suspect videocard temps??

Ive never used speedfan, I know some around here do, maybe somebody will reflect some knowledge about it?

I just took out the videocard, and Remote2 temp is still high. I actually lost 2 temp gauges too.

This is really frustrating. Im starting to suspect that its my motherboard. It doesnt have a fan at all, and Im starting to think that I may have damaged it with the PSU.

    Argh this sucks.

    What doesn't have a fan?

What kind of temps is Everest reporting? I don't have a clue about SpeedFan as I've not used it either.

My motherboard doesnt have a fan on any of the chips, which Im sure could make a difference.

I just ran Everest, and it says that my highest temp is 50c, and thats my GPU. My total temps are:
    Motherboard 34 °C (93 °F)
    CPU 30 °C (86 °F)
    GPU 50 °C (122 °F)
    GPU Ambient 38 °C (100 °F)
    Seagate ST3250823AS 32 °C (90 °F)

Im assuming speedfan is a bit off with that 111c temp reading...

Motherboards themselves often don't have fans. If it needed one, the manufacturer would have provided for it. Case airflow should be sufficient if you haven't messed it up with cabling and other stuff in the way of the airflow, which is usually from bottom front to upper rear. In any event, I doubt that fans can be retrofitted to a motherboard.

You've been getting some strange numbers for both temps and operating voltages. The wild swings in the 12v rail reading could indicate a defective PSU; they could also result from a defective sensor or the software that reads the sensor.

It's already been remarked that your Remote 2 temp (whatever that is) is dangerously high -- if it's real.

For another example, I doubt that your CPU temp really is 30c when your mobo is at 34c and GPU ambient is at 38c -- unless you're using some form of refrigeration cooling on your CPU. A CPU temp of mid-40s or above would be more likely with a 34c mobo reading.

Given all of that, I'm a little suspicious of the health (or sanity) of your motherboard.

You asked earlier about the airflow direction of your CPU and rear case fans. The directions you indicated are the usual: the CPU fan blows air into the heatsink fins, thus cooling them more effectively; the rear case fan sucks air heated by the CPU out of the case.

Think of it this way: the ultimate objective is to get the heat out of the case. Blowing air into the case isn't effective unless you can train that airflow directly on the source of the heat -- and even then, all you do is spread the heat around within the case. The only good reasons for an intake fan that doesn't aim directly at something that needs to be cooled is to improve airflow patterns within the case or to make it possible to get more heated air out of the case. Intake fans don't usually have much effect otherwise.

I agree with rob those temps are off one way or another, try this

    http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=311

usually accurate but depending on board variations, the temp diodes may under different components,to narrow down which is showing your cpu temp, download Toast also available at MG,the one that rises fastest after running the app is your cpu temp :)
