Punkbuster

I didn't know if this was a gaming issue or software issue so if it needs to be moved, so be it. I installed a game that installed the Punkbuster services (they're listed in the Task Manager as PnkBstrA.exe and PnnkBstrB.exe) and I don't remember being asked if I wanted to install 'em; usually the game gives you the option and I always say "NO - Do Not Install". Not a big deal, but I don't want 'em running in the background all the time, can I simply go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall the PunkBuster service without any negative effects on my games or PC in general? I would think so, but you never know....

Do you mean it won't uninstall?

 

From what I see you need it to play games on servers that use punkbuster... not a gamer but game forum could be a better place to ask about it...

 

those 2 files are needed to run on punkbuster enabled servers in multiplayer games. You will get kicked if you don't have them installed and (unfortunately) running in the background. I've never noticed them being a nuisance while a game isn't running tho, they are harmless.
